Picasso! and PicaPub

Don't forget to check out the Picasso event that starts up this week at the VMFA.

Picasso at VMFA

This link also gives you info about the Free Bus Service, which is actually the Bottom and Back bus (watch out for those drunkards!), and a couple of other cool findings if you're in town to check out the exhibit.

My newest suggestion and now favorite little pub: Penny Lane - if you're looking for a very relaxed and enjoyable environment! It's definitely like the majority of the places I loved in Europe. The comfortable atmosphere outweighs the service, that's for sure - but then again, it is an English pub.. The older gentleman (most likely the owner) is fabulous though and very warm!
Jess, Dan and I are going to start hitting up Trivia on Monday nights! Feel free to join! :)

Healthy Living

Jessica shared this awesome event with me just today, so I figured I would share it with all of you.

Who doesn't want to meet Dr. Oz!?
- To be honest, I've never even seen his show. (I don't really want TV).. but I know quite a few people that swear by some of what he says. Soon enough we'll be seeing the Dr. Oz cult, if there isn't already one.
Who knows, he probably has some really awesome advice.

Healthy Living

We (Jess and I) are attending the Healthy Cooking session.. even though I can't cook worth crap. Maybe I'll get a couple of good recipes and give them a shot... or see if someone else wants to try them out and I'll just be the taste tester! (ha, I think that's a better idea!)

RVA On Ice

Jessica and I, and a couple of other friends went out to RVA On Ice this past Sunday evening.
Unfortunately it's only open on the weekends now, but it's definitely something fun to do!
Get a couple of friends together and go for a Twirl!

Don't forget to check out the RVA On Ice Season Pass (it's only an extra $10) - so if you plan on going 3 or more times, it's already paid for itself.

Helpful Hint: If you have your own skates, make sure you don't forget them. They have rentals for $5, but they are the most uncomfortable things and pretty dull (which is a double whammy when you're already skating on ice that only scraped and not groomed)!

Here's some information (although a little outdated):

Definitely something worth checking out. It's always great to find good deals, or even better, something for FREE!
There's so much you can do without having to pay big money for it!
You just have to look for it... Or keep reading mine or Jessica's blog for updates and cool things to do around Richmond! :-)

Cheese Please :)

This has nothing to do with "Places to Go" around RVA, but this should definitely be put on your list of "Things to Do in Life!"

I got to experience the most amazing types of cheeses while in France. There's no doubt about it, I am a CHEESE ADDICT!!! There have only been two types of Cheese that I've found I don't like: Roquefort (aka Blue Cheese) and Cottage Cheese. YUCK!

However, here are a couple of cheeses that I've come to loveeee!
Raclette
- one of the "Mountain" traditions. Must try. Here's how:
There's even a Video!!!

One of my personal Favorites:
Compte
- This cheese brings back so many memories. Particularly, Tuesday night traditions in Grenoble with some amazing people.... (I miss Tuesday's)

A friend of mine, Matthieu gave me the best cheese I've ever had in my life one afternoon while we were snowboarding in France:
Beaufort

I will be looking for this in the European Market! I've never loved a cheese so much.

Don't forget to look up some great ways to use some of France's (or other countries) most amazing cheeses in a Fondue! Or if you're interested, I'm always willing to have a Fondue Night and play around with my fondue making skills (I'm pretty good!). ;-)

On a side note: I have been looking everywhere for:
Moutarde a l'ancienne

It's a dressing from France that I can't find in stores here. I think I may have to attempt making it myself.
This is the dressing that first got me to eat lettuce (so it must be amazing!).
Here's the recipe: Sorry- the best one I could find was in French (of course).

Jason Aldean and Eric Church Concert

Well, as most of you know, I'm from the country, and growing up in the country, "I love me some country music!" I mean, honestly, I do. It's what I sing, what I write, what I listen to when I'm over listening to everything else.. other than jazz and classical.

So I'm adding this to my Bucket List (and although it's not in RVA- it's close)!

Country Concerts are known to be some of the best :)

Wine Me and Dine Me

This is a bit further away.. but just so everyone can go ahead and mark it on their calendars..

For all you wine enthusiasts out there (I know I sure became one after living in France for a year!), make sure to jot down the Virginia Wine Expo coming up in February! Who doesn't love wine tasting?

Bucket List your life- Richmond, the beginnings

So I #stumbledupon this website that was all about a bucket list. I decided why not create my own bucket list for Richmond. When my friend Jessica read my post, she thought it would be a great idea to create a Bucket List Blog! So we've teamed up to explore RVA and see what it has to offer. Although I have no idea where I'll be in the next year.. why not explore until I move! Don't worry, I still have my other blog that you should definitely continue checking up on. Follow Me on both, get updates when I post and don't forget, explore all there is to offer! :)
