Cheese Please :)

This has nothing to do with "Places to Go" around RVA, but this should definitely be put on your list of "Things to Do in Life!"

I got to experience the most amazing types of cheeses while in France. There's no doubt about it, I am a CHEESE ADDICT!!! There have only been two types of Cheese that I've found I don't like: Roquefort (aka Blue Cheese) and Cottage Cheese. YUCK!

However, here are a couple of cheeses that I've come to loveeee!
Raclette
- one of the "Mountain" traditions. Must try. Here's how:
There's even a Video!!!

One of my personal Favorites:
Compte
- This cheese brings back so many memories. Particularly, Tuesday night traditions in Grenoble with some amazing people.... (I miss Tuesday's)

A friend of mine, Matthieu gave me the best cheese I've ever had in my life one afternoon while we were snowboarding in France:
Beaufort

I will be looking for this in the European Market! I've never loved a cheese so much.

Don't forget to look up some great ways to use some of France's (or other countries) most amazing cheeses in a Fondue! Or if you're interested, I'm always willing to have a Fondue Night and play around with my fondue making skills (I'm pretty good!). ;-)

On a side note: I have been looking everywhere for:
Moutarde a l'ancienne

It's a dressing from France that I can't find in stores here. I think I may have to attempt making it myself.
This is the dressing that first got me to eat lettuce (so it must be amazing!).
Here's the recipe: Sorry- the best one I could find was in French (of course).

  1. Trader Joe's has a fantastic selection of cheese for CHEAP! I found raclette and compte there at an extraordinary price.

Still on the search for Beaufort as well.
